What’s more glamorous than creating your own perfume? I had a very fun evening this week at the Aroma Workshop (Chicago’s only Perfumery) where myself and a new found friend spent two hours learning the history of perfumery & the art of combining scents, with the added bonus of leaving with our very own bottle of personalized perfume. It was really fun coming up with different possible scents but very hard to choose just 1 ! I could find this experience very addicting if not careful!
Was so excited to see pictures of Kerri Russell’s Brooklyn home in this months issue of Elle Decor. How lucky is she to have a man able to completely gut and renovate a run down brownstone and turn it into a dream home?? Drool worthy pictures below (pay close attention to her bathroom & closet, every girls dream!!).

So very excited that Sephora has launched their iPad App. Chock full of helpful videos and a platform for Beauty Q&A, I now have another source to enable my addiction for luxury cosmetics!! Luckily Sephora has included special online deals exclusively for iPad users which is a great incentive for downloading this app!
Im starting to define my 20’s & 30’s in the following way; 20’s Franco Sarto, 30’s Vince Camuto. Yes, shoes. Always shoes. Who says you can’t define the stages in your life by the shoes you wore? I’ve forgotten my early years though. 10 and under I wore jellies like they were going out of style (funny enough my 4 year old niece is following in my footsteps), my junior high years were high top sneakers (the horror), and all throughout high school I slipped in and out of my favorite penny loafers and converse without appreciating the style clash between the two (preppy vs punk?? at least back then anyway…) Luckily as I progress in age my tastes in shoes are improving (still miss my jellies though). My last few shoe purchases all have the same theme… Vince Camuto. I feel as if I have found my shoe soul mate, or at least a mate for my soles. Vince Camuto shoes are like the comfortable younger L.A.M.B sister, still very sexy but not needing to push the vertical boundaries like some designers do. Plus at 5’8, almost 5’9 I really don’t need the height.
Just recently a very generous friend gifted me with a trio of YSL lipsticks in varying shades of deep pinks and reds. A luxury present for sure, and one I am not sure I would ever have splurged on for myself (Ok, lying. That would probably happen). This gift, the ultimate in glamour, at least in my opinion, allowed me to forget for a moment that as much as I want to be, Im just not that girl. You know the one; oozing style effortlessly, able to wear a gleaming red lip with little to be self conscious about. I try. I promise I do. I walk up to the cosmetics counter, confidently asking to try on that gorgeous shade of red I’ve been dying to get, praying that this one will be the one. That I may have finally found it, the red lipstick that will instantly change my life. Without fail, I glance into the handheld mirror and almost simultaneously reach for the box of tissues. Whatever the excuse (my teeth are never white enough, I’ve allowed too much time to pass between my last lip wax… ) there is always some reason why I can never see myself wearing a shade of lip color thats not my own. Still though, I may never let go of that secret dream, to be that girl who can stun a room with her casual elegance and beautiful red lips.
Growing up I had never given much thought to what species of flower I would call my own. Its true though what they say, the older you get the more you grow into your tastes. I have learned late in life that the Peony is my absolute, hands down flower of choice. Its whimsical, yet classy and elegant all at the same time.
Sadly, I wasn’t able to get my Peony fix in this year as I missed it’s short window for prime bloom, but promises for next year I will have vase at the ready.

It’s not just for your face. My favorite go to brand for polish RGB, has come out with their latest line of must have colors and it all speaks to the minimalist in me. Every shade in the HIPPxRGB line are on my must have list for Fall. Formaldehyde free and so totally green, everything about RGB is just right for me, down to its simple and very minimal packaging (yes, ill admit to keeping all of my RGB polishes in their packages until the very last drop!)
